GaplekNews--Katy Perry and Russell Brand are going to spend New Year’s at a five-star resort in India in an attempt to rekindle their marriage, says England’s Sunday Mirror. There have been lots of rumours that they are on the rocks, because they’ve been apart so much while working.
But something in the paper’s story doesn’t quite add up. If your relationship were in trouble, and you had booked a fancy getaway to see what could be salvaged, would you start by visiting your mother-in-law? Not so much, right? But that’s what these two are doing, spending Christmas with Brand’s mom before flying east.
So here’s what it looks like: an overworked couple taking a holiday. I hope they have a nice time.

Well, the Guardian newspaper, in Britain, now reports that her severance package included $2.7 million, plus the use of a London office and chauffeured limousine for two years.
She’s 43.
Madonna, her abdication movie tanking, must be hurting for dough: in quick succession, she has announced the launch of a second clothing line and her first eau de parfum along with bath products. (Who knew? I thought she had about six perfumes out there already.)
Both the new products will be called Truth or Dare; her first clothing line is called Material Girl. The new one will include shoes, handbags and underwear. The fragrance, this news release says, “will be floral – a mix of narcotic flowers, balanced with addictive woods and vanilla.”
Oh, and the bottle will have “a classic and sophisticated shape, with edgy detailing.” That always means so much.
Avril Lavigne was just minding her own business with boyfriend Brody Jenner at the trendy Roosevelt Hotel saloon in L.A. the other night when she was “attacked by five people ... out of nowhere.” That’s her story, via Twitter, and she’s sticking to it.
There certainly was a brawl. Jenner got conked on the noggin with a bottle and Avril says “my face is (bad word)” with “black eye, bloody nose, hair ripped out, scratches, bruises and cuts.”
The L.A. cops say there was a “skirmish” of some kind outside the hotel, but that no arrests have been made.
