GaplekNews--Lady GaGa was the queen of the night at last night's MTV Europe Music Awards as she took home four awards.

The flamboyant singer became emotional as she accepted the Best Song award for 'Born This Way' at the starstudded show in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

"I knew that this song was very special when I wrote it. I just didn't know when I first started off as a song writer, how special you would all be to me," she said tearfully.

"This is the single most important song that I've ever written. The single most important album and until now this is the single most important moment."

She also won prizes for Best Female, Best Video as well as the 'Biggest Fan' award which honoured her followers, who are known as "little monsters".

GaGa, 25, is known for her outrageous outfits and the star didn't disappoint, donning several outfits including a silver outfit with a giant dish that ran around her entire body.

She then delighted the crowd as she took to the stage to perform her upcoming single 'Marry the Night' while standing on a huge artificial moon.

The show, which was presented by Disney star Selena Gomez, included performances from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snow Patrol as well as teen star Justin Bieber.

Bruno Mars took home the award for Best New Artist and also performed his single 'Marry You'.

"I've never been in this position before," said Bruno. "I don't know what to do! Kids, follow you dreams. No, I shouldn't have said that! That was corny. I shouldn't have said that, I'm sorry!!

British star Jessie J paid tribute to the late singer Amy Winehouse during the ceremony with a heartfelt speech in which she thanked the star for "breaking boundaries".

"Once in a generation an artist comes along that takes the world by storm," said Jessie.

"Their music reaches out to every age and every person across the world... I think that we can all say that not only were we proud to be her fans, but we felt like we were her friends.

"It saddens me that I never got to thank Amy for breaking boundaries, as I genuinely believe that without her I wouldn't be standing her today."

The ceremony was held in three different locations for the first time, with performances in the Ulster Hall and City Hall as well as Belfast.

Queen rocker Brian May paid tribute to the Northern Irish city, saying: "How wonderful for us to be here 40 years later. And how wonderful it is to be in Belfast, who is setting an example in the growth for true peace."

Other winners included Eminem, who won for Best Hip Hop, Katy Perry won Best Live Act and Linkin Park
were voted Best Rock Group. starlounge
