GaplekNews--Did anyone truly believe that Microsoft's mega-popular first-person shooter came to a close with 2010's Halo: Reach? Redmond confirmed that the series would continue to thrive beyond developer Bungie's departure by showcasing a Halo 4 teaser at E3 2011. The only question that remained was a vital one: On which platform would it appear?

Rumors circulated that Halo 4 would surface as a launch title to coincide with an unconfirmed Xbox 360 successor in late 2012. Over the weekend, however, that rumor was shot down, sort of.
Frank O'Connor, Halo series director at developer 343 Industries, posted a response on the gaming message board NeoGAF under the name "OuterWorldVoice," to say that "Halo 4 will be on Xbox 360 and use a modified core of the Halo engine(s). Not really a singular engine since it goes through fairly radical evolutions all the time."
We decided to confirm that Halo 4 would be headed to the Xbox 360 by contacting Microsoft. A Redmond representative responded with "Halo 4 will release on Xbox 360."
While Microsoft's statement confirms that Halo 4 is set for a Xbox 360 release, it doesn't say that it will appear only on the Xbox 360. Let the "Xbox 720" kick into overdrive.
343 Industries is the development team behind Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition, a remake of Bungie's decade-old Halo: Combat Evolved. The new game features updated visuals, online play, and Kinect support and hits store shelves tomorrow. pcmag
