GaplekNews--The Chinese edition of Steve Jobs, the biography of the Apple co-founder, has sold more than 2,200 copies at Xinhua Book Store in Jinan, Shandong province within the first 10-days of publication, making it one of the bestselling books in the city this year.
"Like Jobs' products, the only authorized biography has been well-received. A total of 629 copies of the book were sold on its publication day, setting a new record," said Yuan Xue, deputy managing director of the bookstore.
The books are being displayed in a prime position in the stores, attracting many people to buy the book, especially young readers.
"Great men are said to be those who are still influential after death. Steve Jobs may be one of those great men, and his biography really draws a crowd," said Zhang Xinghao, a 25-year-old Apple fan who bought a copy for 68 yuan ($10.7), as a way of paying his respect to Jobs.
"He is a charming man and I consider him a legend. I want to learn more about him by reading the book," said Liu Siyi, a 40-year-old local.
The biography was written by Walter Isaacson, a former executive at CNN and the US magazine Time. Isaacson who conducted more than 40 exclusive interviews with Steve Jobs in order to write to the book.
The Chinese version of the book was released in 30 bookstores in 21 Chinese cities at 10:05 am on October 24, according to a statement from China CITIC Press, the publisher of the biography’s simplified Chinese edition. Chinadaily
