Katy Perry Refused to Be ‘X Factor’ Fill-in Judge

GaplekNews--Katy Perry admitted early this week that she was asked to sit in for judge Kelly Rowland on last weekend’s ‘X Factor,’ but refused the gig.

Kelly had returned to the US last week to conduct several business meetings when she fell ill with what is believed to have been a throat infection. Instead of returning to the UK for filming, she opted to spend the weekend in Los Angeles recovering. She also suffered from dehydration and was forced to undergo IV therapy. Series producer Simon Cowell eventually issued the former Destiny’s Child singer an ultimatum.

Some believed that a clash between Kelly and fellow judge Tulisa Contostavlos over the behavior of contestant Misha B may have been the reason behind her extended visit in the US. The rumors were fueled further after the two did not speak for well over a week, but Kelly took the time to phone Tulisa and speak to her about the matter.

Katy is currently on tour in the UK and expressed some interest in judging the show, but admitted that in addition to her busy schedule that she would have felt awkward jumping in the middle. Alexandra Burke, winner of the 2008 competition, sat in on Kelly’s behalf. Newsqoud
